Fossil Atmospheres

We are growing Ginkgo biloba plants under ambient (400 ppm) and elevated CO2 levels (600, 800, and 1000 ppm).

Our experiment helps us estimate CO2 levels in fossil atmospheres using fossil Ginkgo leaves we collect from the geologic record.

2019 was the summer of the Intern!!!

Lily Bennett, Alex Kane, James Sappington, and Mason Scher produced a ton of great data.

They collects samples for isotopic analysis, and took lots of data on the photosynthetic rates of the plants.

They took part in filiming for explanatory videos of the project (videos here).

We had fun, and all learned a ton!
